Highlights of Faculty Task Force Recommendations : Non-Reappointment

  • Reorganize and reformat for greater clarity and ease of use.
  • Make clear that in certain respects ‹ such as nondiscrimination and health benefits ‹ non-tenured faculty have the same rights as all other faculty.
  • Provide that faculty are automatically continued for an additional year if they are not given the required notice for non-renewal.
  • Provide that the letter of non-renewal automatically include a statement of reasons, thus removing an extra level of bureaucracy.
  • Incorporate due-process protections, making violations of them grievable.
