Highlights of Faculty Task Force Recommendations : Leaves

  • Reorganize and clarify the entire article, so it is easier to understand and use.
  • Make administering leaves less complicated, confusing, and irregular—ensuring that faculty do not lose money and opportunities unnecessarily.
  • Paid leave for new parents and generally make UF more “family-friendly.”
  • Include domestic partners under family medical leave provisions.
  • Make explicit how leaves can “stop the tenure clock” and guarantee this right to new parents.
  • Mandate payment to departments to temporarily replace faculty on leave.
  • Guarantee that faculty cannot be penalized or disadvantaged for taking leave.
