  • Mandate that discipline-specific interpretations and clarifications of University criteria for tenure, promotion, merit pay, and other personnel decisions must be contained in college/department bylaws and must be sufficiently thorough to be meaningful.
  • Provide a fair and democratic procedure guaranteeing faculty the right to develop and revise their department bylaws.
  • Provide a means for resolving impasses in the development of bylaws.
  • Guarantee that all bylaws are enforceable under the Grievance Procedure.
  • Guarantee that the Administration cannot unilaterally alter or suspend established department bylaws.
  • Ensure that a copy of a departmentıs bylaws is readily available to the faculty.
