Highlights of Faculty Task Force Recommendations : Appointment
- Guarantee that faculty retain the primary role & responsibility in hiring faculty.
- Establish a large recurring fund to help hire highly qualified spouses/partners.
- Provide safeguards against inappropriate reductions in the FTE appointment and related increases in workload.
- Continue guaranteeing summer pay at same rate as in the academic year and add payment for any service duties.
- Safeguard tenure by mandating that the ratio of tenurable to non-tenurable positions will not fall below current levels and set a specific timetable for restoring that ratio to 1990 levels.
- Require that candidates also be provided with relevant materials about the nature of the position ‹ teaching and research load, special conditions, and the standards for retention, promotion, and tenure.
