UFF mourns the passing of Mickie Newbill Edwardson (1929-2010)

The University of Florida Chapter of the United Faculty of Florida mourns the passing of Mickie Newbill Edwardson (1929-2010), Distinguished Professor Emerita in the College of Journalism and Communications. Mickie was a fountain of ideas, a creator of institutions, a doer of things, an inspiring mentor and a gentle gadfly (According to Socrates, the role of a gadfly is "to sting people and whip them into a fury, all in the service of truth."). A longtime regular on the UFF-UF Council, an adviser and a source of insightful and comforting thoughts in times of celebration as well as despair, she will be greatly missed by all those fortunate enough to have known her.
