Latest on Proposed Budget Cuts and Lay-offs

While President Machen's Budget Reduction Proposal includes faculty lay-offs, it appears that other SUS institutions are trying to address their shortfalls without resorting to such drastic measures. Fortunately, since the President's proposal was first unveiled, the number of faculty targeted for lay-off has gone down, and efforts are under way on several levels to continue that trend. Yesterday's Gainesville Sun story highlights some of the issues that the Union plans to raise in discussions with the Administration.

If you are not a member of UFF/UF, now is the time to join. The Union is our voice on campus, and that voice grows stronger with each new member. By banding together, we can secure our rights, now and in the future.
